New Espresso Machine!

April 6th, 2005

Well, Magmic’s other active co-founder, John Criswick, decided to do his latte budget a favour and pick up an espresso machine for work.

Throwing my somewhat selfish suggestion of a Rancilio Silvia aside, he opted to go for a fully automatic, digital offering from Starbucks. The good news is that it looks pretty, worked right from the moment I plugged it in (though it needs fine tuning before I’ll be happy), and I won’t need to be hit up to make everyone’s shots every day.
Saeco Digital Italia
The machine is called the Starbucks Barista Digital Italia, but it is actually a white labelled offering from Saeco, the Incanto Digital.

Now, being a proper geek, it’s time to think about hacking it. It would be great to give it a web interface so I could order my coffee as I’m entering the office and have it ready for pickup. Maybe I’m taking it too far…

A great review of one of our games on a Blackberry blog! This is the kind of press we need to get out there!

Just wait until version 2 comes out in a couple of months! It’ll have a heavily evolved AI and full multiplayer network support! Truly a next-generation product.

Magmic gets top deck placement on Rogers!

June 15th, 2004

We’ve finally struck another milestone at Magmic. In a summer promotion agreement we set up with Rogers Wireless, we made a whitewater kayaking game called Raging Rivers. Now that the promotion is in full force, our game is featured in posters, TV ads, movie theatre ads, and the number one listed game on their downloadable games page online!

In related news, another one of our new games, Texas Hold’em King, is continually breaking sales records for us on an almost daily basis! I think we found the hot spot for wireless gaming: addictive, turn-based, and infinite replayability. Our other gambling title, Blackjack, has also been immensely popular.

BlackBerry Games - Magmic Online

We hosted our first online game tournament this week at the WES show in Chicago. The game was Texas Hold’em King and it was a huge success! The show was abuzz with talk of the game and two lucky winners walked away with shiny new iPods.
